I wrote a post a few months back about the changes we did to the kitchen. This post will be about some of the other rooms in our house. The before photos are from the listing agent when we were purchasing our home (not our decorating).
We are still adding random decoration throughout the house, which is way harder than I ever thought it would be! For years I was surfing through Pinterest, and Houzz and would see all of these beautiful ideas for home decoration, but never had the size house to cater to those designs.
Now I have the house, but am struggling to fill it!
Anyway, this house was exactly what we needed, after several man hours and money put into it in the first couple of months.
The Entryway
Past: All beige everything
Present: Painted all walls, ceiling and trim, painted inside of door navy, added rug, new shades. {Not pictured: Updated stairway with wood floors and new railing, painted walls and lighting fixture}.
Future: New door without the mail slot on the door, smaller rug, small tables and mirror on left and right side of the door.
The Dining Room
Past: Beige walls, old carpet, wallpaper, old windows, and old lighting fixture.
Present: Painted all walls, ceiling and trim, new window, new window fixtures and shades, new lighting fixtures, new vents, new wall plates, outlet covers, and carpet.
Future: New dining set and wall decor.
The Family Room
Past: Beige walls, old carpet, old drapes, doors to the hallway, old windows.
Present: Painted all walls, ceiling and trim, new carpet, added new vents, outlet covers, wall plates, windows, and window fixtures and shades.
Future: More wall decor, and possibly new shades.
The Living Room
Past: Beige walls, old carpet, old drapes, old windows.
Present: Painted all walls, ceiling and trim, exposed and refinished wood floors, added new vents, outlet covers, wall plates, windows, window fixtures and shades, and added new shelving.
Future: More floor and wall decor.
The Dressing Room
Past: Beige walls, old blue carpet, and old shades.
Present: Painted all walls, ceiling and trim, exposed and refinished wood floors, added new vents, outlet covers, wall plates, window fixtures and shades.
Future: More femine decor and other fun organizational projects.
The Guest Room
Past: Pink walls and ceiling, old pink carpet, and old shades.
Present: Painted all walls, ceiling and trim, exposed and refinished wood floors, added new vents, outlet covers, wall plates, windows, window fixtures and shades.
Future: Remove that huge wardrobe, add decroation, maybe downsize to a full size bed.
The Guest Bath
Past: Blue walls, ceiling, sink and tub, bathtub doors, old blinds and lighting fixtures..
Present: Painted all walls, ceiling and trim, added framing to the mirror, new lighting fixture, new bath fixtures, window fixtures and shades, painted the sink and tub white, added a shower curtain, and other decor.
Future: Rip the entire thing out and re-do!
The Master Bedroom
Past: Wallpaper on all walls, old blinds, wood floors, bi-fold closet doors, door to master bathroom.
Present: Replaced wallpaper with painted walls, newly re-finished floors, new window fixtures, french doors, and bathroom entryway.
Future: More wall decor and bed style.
The Master Bathroom
Past: Pink walls, old blinds, bathtub doors, old lighting fixture.
Present: Painted all walls, ceiling and trim, added framing to the mirror, new lighting fixture, new bath fixtures, window fixtures and shades, removed old doors and added a shower curtain, and other decor. {Yes, that is one of our cats in the photo}
Future: Rip out this entire area and re-do!
In general, our entire house; including the doors, ceilings, and trim, were all one color. All of the lighting fixtures were out of date, and all floors (except for the bathrooms) were replaced or re-finished.
We love our home, and are excited to see what our future plans hold for us. This spring/summer will be spent outside, because as you can imagine, it's a disaster out there, too!
