Brand System: Sins of a Solar Empire II
Starting from provided key art and a logo, I built the complete brand kit for Sins of a Solar Empire II. That included logo usage guidelines, approved and unapproved usage examples, font selections for headers, subheads, body copy, and web use, and a full color palette established from the key art.
From there I adapted the brand across every asset size and aspect ratio in the campaign, from a 3000 pixel wide webpage header down to a 250 pixel wide banner ad. Each one required careful decisions about how to preserve the integrity of the key art at smaller sizes, which sometimes meant removing or repositioning elements while keeping the brand recognizable.
One of the more notable applications was working directly with the PC Gamer magazine team to fit the key art into a portrait cover layout. The original art is 16:9. Getting it to work on a magazine cover without losing the brand feel required close collaboration and careful creative decisions on both sides.
The campaign ran from announcement through launch and contributed to the company's biggest revenue result to date, $15M in the first 5 months.
